Divorce fixed fees & cost

By providing fixed fees this will help you budget, in times that are financially difficult.

However, please note that additional costs will be incurred at my hourly rate if there are complexities and unexpected problems e.g where the Respondent cannot be located or will not sign the papers or where experts are required or where you prefer a Barrister to represent you.

The fixed fees in a Divorce would not cover any advice or work that you may require concerning issues over the children or financial matters.

I will however, prior to carrying out additional work inform you of the costs to be incurred so that you can make the appropriate choices.

For all work that does not fall within our fixed fee schemes then this will be based on my hourly rate and please see “How much will it cost” under my FAQ section for details.

For work that doesn't fall within our fixed fee scheme, I will always use my experience to provide you with realistic figures for what your costs could reach before you agree to continue. If you prefer we can also agree an upper budget limit for you so that if we reach that figure, I will inform you and you can then decide how or if you want to proceed.

Unbundling Your Costs

We are all now familiar with buying mobile phones, TV and broadband packages that offer "bundles" of benefits for which you pay accordingly. Most of my clients prefer myself to act for them from the beginning to the end of their matter dealing with all correspondence and negotiations on their behalf and representing them at all Court hearings. However if you are looking at a more affordable alternative to your legal advice and representation then I can offer our Unbundled services.

Unbundling is a way that gives you the option of taking on parts of the legal matter yourself. You would be responsible for dealing with all correspondence and negotiations with the other side and just seeking our advice on a specific matter or stage. You could also instruct us to represent you at a specific Court hearing as your advocate but again you would be responsible for the issuing of those proceedings and all dealings with the Court and any experts required or any matters to be attended to after the hearing. Your costs would then be based on our hourly rate ( See FAQ: how much will it cost) for the actual work we complete for you.

I cannot offer an Unbundled package for all the work that I do and there are conditions that apply which I would be happy to discuss with you if this may be of interest to you

Fees and Costs

Divorce (if you are the Petitioner and it is uncontested) Our fees £495.00 plus V.A.T of £99.00 and Court fees of £385.00 : Total £979.00.
Divorce (if you are the Respondent and it is uncontested) Our fees £290.00 plus V.A.T of £58.00 : Total £348.00.
Change of Name Deed Our fee £120.00 plus V.A.T of £24.00 : Total £144.00
Parental Responsibility Agreement Our fees £265.00 plus V.A.T of £53.00 : Total £318.00
Co habitation agreement i.e an agreement made before living together. Our fees £500.00 plus V.A.T of £100.00 : Total £600.00.
Prenuptial Agreement i.e an agreement made before marrying. Our fees £750.00 plus V.A.T of £150.00 : Total £900.00.

Disputes over Children

We have a number of packages to offer you.

Early Resolution Package To discuss the issues and problems with you and to correspond with the other parent with a view to reaching an agreement. Our fees £245.00 plus V.A.T of £49.00 : Total £294.00.
Preparing for Court Package If attempts to resolve matters are unsuccessful then your matter will have to be referred to a Local Mediation Service before you can apply to Court. Within this package I will make the mediation referral and if that doesn’t resolve the problem then will prepare the Court application papers for you to issue and then you can represent yourself at the Court hearing. There may also be a fee payable to the mediator and to the Court. Our fees £350.00 plus V.A.T of £70.00 : Total £420.00.
Representation at Court Package For myself to deal with the issuing of the Court application and serving the papers upon the other parent and to prepare your case and to represent you at that first Court Hearing then, our fees will be £450.00 plus V.A.T of £99.00 : Total £594.00. You may also have to pay a Court fee of £200.00.

Financial Matters

A Separation Agreement (Where you have agreed the financial matters and there is not to be a divorce but you require a formal legal agreement.) Our fees £695.00 plus V.A.T of £139.00 : Total £834.00.
A Financial Consent Order with “Clean Break” provisions where there are no assets. Our fees £395.00 plus V.A.T of £79.00 Court fee of £45.00 : Total £519.00.
A Financial Agreement where there are assets and matters are agreed by yourselves at the outset and for that agreement to be incorporated into a “Clean Break” Court Consent Order. Our fees £695.00 plus V.A.T of £139.00 Court fee of £45.00 : Total £879.00.

I have seen Divorces offered cheaper on the Internet !!

It is correct that for some of the work that we are offering as a fixed fee you will see advertised cheaper on the internet.

If you wish to trust such an important matter as a divorce, to an online service then that is of course your choice.

However, when dealing with an online services you do not know who is actually doing your work with most of it most likely to be carried out not by one of the Partners of the firm but by a Clerk.

A lot of people like to have personal contact with their Solicitor who is dealing with their case, which I provide.

If you deal with an online Company they could well be at the opposite end of the country.
